Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL)

Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) is a Public Sector Undertaking engaged in mining of coal and allied activities. It occupies an important place in as much as it produces bulk of the coking coal mined in the country. BCCL meets almost 50% of the total prime coking coal requirement of the integrated steel sector. It also supplies substantial quantity of coal to the pig iron sector and bulk of the coal requirement of the power station in the Northern region.

BCCL's area of operation falls in Jharia Coalfield and in a part of Ranigaunj Coalfield in the State of Jharkhand. Its activity extents into a small area in West Bengal also wherein it operates two of its coal mines. Its area of operation is speed over 270 Sq.Kms. of the Jharia Coalfield and 32 Sq. Kms. in the Ranigaunj Coalfield

The customer had a widely spread infrastructure which was isolated from each other. It wanted to establish data and voice connectivity between these locations.

Layer 3 Switch, VOIP gateways, Wireless Radios and Router along with firewall/Proxy were deployed at the Central Site.

Subscribers at Central site, the three nodes, as well as all the Remote locations were provided access to internet through a server located at HQ.

For voice communication, VOIP gateway was installed at the Central site which was interfaced with the existing exchange for providing trunk and additional analog voice ports. A VOIP gatekeeper was installed at Central site to provide control of voice calls user authentication and call traffic management throughout the network. At the nodes and remote locations, VOIP gateways were used to provide connectivity to the direct analog phones.

Network Management System for the entire network for both voice as well as data was installed at the Central site. The NMS shall provide centralized monitoring, diagnosis and configuration for all the local and remote devices throughout the network using standard IP protocol.

Point-to-point and point-to-multipoint Radio links were established including erection of towers to enable communication between the different locations.
